OUR ROOTS
It’s been 35 years since the disabled community put the government’s feet to the fire. The “504 Capital Crawl” proved that the disabled community still has the power of shock and awe. The power to grab attention, (whether we want it or not.) True, our representatives in 2025 have ignored us, spread lies, belittled us, or called us “parasites.” We cannot allow such lies and insults (by the very people who torment us) to go unchallenged by ANY of us.
Our protest will not be unique in and of itself, but it will bring us more into the national dialogue because disabled American citizens doing things no one expects—is always newsworthy. These facts alone are enough to choose to Sit-in with us. We need this movement to succeed or many of us will be the first casualties of MAGAmerica’s war on the “enemies within.” It sounds counter-intuitive, but now’s the time we must become too visible to ignore. We cannot afford to be unheard—so be bold, be brave, be present. Anything that draws the eye and stirs curiosity. We will do it together, and we won’t be overlooked again.
